Overview
Hytale x Tiltify is an open-source Hytale server plugin written in Kotlin for the Hytale Thankmas charity initiative. It bridges Tiltify's fundraising platform directly with a live Hytale multiplayer server, enabling real-time in-game celebrations, milestone triggers, and automated donor reward fulfillment.
Tools & Technologies: Kotlin, Hytale Server API, Tiltify REST API, HTTP Webhooks, JSON Serialization
Technical Contributions & Systems Breakdown
1. Real-Time Webhook Ingestion & Event Dispatch
- Webhook Listener: Implemented an asynchronous webhook endpoint that receives, validates, and parses live donation payloads pushed from Tiltify campaigns.
- Custom Server Event (
TiltifyDonationEvent): Dispatched a structured Hytale server event whenever a donation is processed or a fundraising milestone is crossed, allowing downstream minigame and cosmetic plugins to trigger server-wide effects immediately.
2. Donor Identity Mapping
- Account Linking Pipeline: Built a player-mapping registry that associates a donor's Tiltify email address or username with their Hytale account UUID, ensuring rewards and leaderboards credit the correct in-game player.
3. Public Developer API for Downstream Plugins
To allow multiple event developers to build charity mechanics without managing HTTP requests or API tokens, I exposed a clean service interface with five core query methods:
getDonorProfile: Retrieves a donor's profile record by Tiltify identifier.getDonorProfileByUuid: Resolves a Hytale player's linked Tiltify donor profile via their in-game UUID.getTotalDonatedByUuid: Calculates cumulative campaign contributions for a specific player.getDonationsByUuid: Returns the full transaction history associated with a player's UUID.hasPlayerPurchasedReward: Verifies whether a player qualifies for a specific Tiltify donation incentive or reward tier.
Direct Impact
- Automated Live Charity Incentives: Eliminated manual staff intervention for verifying donations and granting in-game rewards during high-traffic charity streams.
- Decoupled Plugin Architecture: Centralizing Tiltify authentication, webhook parsing, and rate-limiting into a single core library allowed other Thankmas developers to focus purely on in-game event mechanics.
- hasPlayerPurchasedReward
